中野がドイツで10年間細々とやってきた仕事がついに論文化されました！
シロイヌナズナを含むアブラナ科などの植物に固有の細胞内小器官である「ER body」が，特殊な化合物を根から分泌することに関わっていて，その分泌された物質が根圏微生物叢（根のマイクロバイオータ）の制御に関わっていることを突き止めた論文です。
ポーランド科学アカデミーのPawel Bednarekさんのグループ、そしてなによりポーランド・ヤギェウォ大学の山田健志さんのグループとの共同研究です。山田グループの博士課程の学生であるArpan Kumar Basakさんが，2018年から断続的にケルンを訪れては実験を重ね，その隙間では遠隔でデータ解析を指導しながら二人で試行錯誤して前に進めてきました。中野が他のこと（コメンサル細菌による宿主植物の生長と免疫に対する干渉など）に忙しくなって宙ぶらりんになっていたプロジェクトを引き継いでくれ，ここまで昇華してくれたArpan，そしてそれを許してくれた温かく見守ってくれた山田さんには感謝が尽きません！Arpanは現在MPIPZのStephane Hacquardのグループで博士研究員として更なる研鑽を積んでいます。
山田さんとPawelとの共同研究は，中野が博士課程の学生だった2010年2月にケルンを訪れて10日間実験を行ったことに端を発しています。2017年に発表したPlant Journalの論文との二部作として，大変思い入れ深い作品となっています。

A new paper is published!!
We found that an organelle unique to Brassicaceae and related families, called the ER body, mediates root secretion of a group of metabolites into the rhizosphere, thereby contributing to the assembly of root-associated microbiota.
It was a fruitful collaboration with the groups of Pawel Bednarek at the Polish Academy of Sciences (Poznan, Poland) and Kenji Yamada at the Jagiellonian University (Krakow, Poland), where Kenji’s PhD student Arpan Kumar Basak took over and spearheaded the entire project. The project was originally initiated by Thomas in 2013 as an MPIPZ postdoc with the JSPS Fellowship but was suspended due to his time limitations. Arpan was courage enough to take it over, and Kenji was kind enough to allow them to pursue this as a part of Arpan’s PhD project. We can’t be more thankful to Kenji!! Arpan is now pursuing his postdoctoral project with Stephane Hacquard at the MPIPZ.
It all started when Thomas visited MPIPZ in Feb 2010 for a small experiment, which was related to his Plant Journal paper in 2017, and this one is its successive work. It means a lot to him.
